And on the seventh day she said, “I can haz another?”
Today’s challenges: a coffee date and a lunch date. But I was smart about both and looked up in advance what each establishment carries on its menu and I was prepared. Anything that I wasn’t sure about, I didn’t get.
When I started the Whole30, my husband said, “You invited [daughter-in-love] out to lunch but are you just going to cheat that day?” And I said, “You know, I thought about waiting to start this experiment until after our lunch date but then I realized I’d be putting it off for this or that and I’d never get started. I have to learn how to be able to go out and eat and still find healthy choices.”
And I did! I didn’t LOVE my tea at my coffee date but that’s OK. I wasn’t tempted to order anything else or add sugar or milk. But I did love my meal at my lunch, and it was careful planning that made that happen.
Today was just fantastic from start to finish. The energy I have had is AMAZING and all things beautiful and I would like it to continue, thankyouverymuch! Eating a good, clean breakfast is keeping me full through lunch, and then lunch is keeping me full until dinner. I’m not drawn to snacking or even having that second lunch I spoke of in the earliest days. I don’t know if this will change, but for now, it’s good. And cooking for myself three times a day just feels very nurturing. It’s nice to care for myself.
I’m prepared that for now, the days won’t always be this fantastic, but it’s a good taste of what is to come if I keep eating clean and healthy, and I’m worth it to do so.
