The Team
I was already planning to share these shots today, but with Photo Friday’s theme this week being The Team, I definitely had to. You see, me and this girl? We’re The Girl Team here in this house. And she and I are part of THE Team, our fun family. So, maybe my take is a bit different than what everyone else is doing, but hey, my blog, my rules.
I believe this may be the only one where one of us wasn’t acting up…and the rest go downhill — in a fun way — from here!
The best of 2008?
This week’s Photo Friday theme is The Best of 2008. I have a problem with that. The above picture is not my best. Almost all of my 2008 photos are on disks because my laptop hates me. And this desktop PC has very little space, so unzipping those disks onto this computer would eat up what precious little space I have left. So I’ve chosen the above photo because today it speaks to me about 2008. Let me share that with you:
This year has been a roller coaster. I suppose most years are that way. I’ve been through medical stuff, a job I almost grew to hate, being humbled by being fired, but also great things like going back to school, moving into a great new place, celebrating 10 years of marriage to my wonderful husband, and having numerous opportunities to be with, laugh with, grow with, and love with my children.
What I see in this image is the present in the foreground, and the future in the distance. The present is dying; it does that with every passing second. But the future is bright. And the vastness of the snow, the landscape that goes on beyond what the eye can see, that is life itself. You cannot know what is over the next hill. But you can keep your eye on the brightness the future does hold.
Bad days, bad things will come. Yet, we all know there is something ahead, something better, something happier. We can be present and happy where we are, but we have to remember life changes constantly. As this year comes to an end, I can’t help but have hope again for a new year. What will it hold?
So, as we all near the end of 2008, what are you leaving behind, and what spot of sunshine are you looking forward to?
I love…
…the first snow of the season. It began while we were at work, and I jumped for joy. I simply adore the snow. (And frankly, had it not snowed and kept me home the next day, I might have gone through with my insane idea to withdraw from school.)

Photo Friday
From this day on, my goal with any photo meme I participate in is to take a new photo based on the theme, not find one I already have, even if it was taken just shortly before the theme was posted…
