So long, Elementary
And thus ends my 13-year career as an Elementary School Mom. The baby is done. Off to middle school. No more will I find myself navigating the halls of elementary while trying not to trip over tiny little people. Now, it’s all middle school and up from here.
Man does life ever speed by…
Life is like a blanket too short. You pull it up and your toes rebel, you yank it down and shivers meander about your shoulder; but cheerful folks manage to draw their knees up and pass a very comfortable night. ~Marion Howard
Yesterday, I…
UPDATE - Well, HELLO! visitors from ShutterSisters! Thanks for stopping by. Please look around, I’m slowly rebuilding. And thank YOU, Temmy, for the nice surprise this morning!
… woke up excited
… had my heart broken
… spoke with my brother, who went home from the hospital the day before
… prayed for my mother-in-law, who was having hip surgery
… called the radio station from my cell and got through on the first try, but darn that husband, he was wrong with his trivia answer - still, I got through and was live, and since I’m due to win something from a radio station, I think I’ll save it up for something I really want (like, I think Pat Benatar is coming to town, and surely the station will give away tickets)
… went to a bookstore and tried (with the help of my near-empty wallet) not to buy books –
I bought Jane Austen
… went to the mall and successfully avoided yelling at cart vendors who harass me, bought the husband a few used video games, and bought myself some funky hair dye and a Birthday Girl crown to wear to work on my birthday next month
… went to the zoo to see the newly opened exhibits, and it was a delight
… had an inexpensive lunch with the husband
… got paid
… picked up another classic from the library, Uncle Tom’s Cabin
… checked the mail - junk again - never anything good or for me, no surprises (but reminded me to get my butt to the post office and mail these 572 packages here so someone else will get surprises!)
… bleached and then colored my hair funky orange
… endured laughter from the kidlings
… snuggled with my husband
… watched a beautiful sunset
All in all, not a terrible day, all things considered…
